Travelers entering Thailand overland receive only a 15 day Visa, versus the month allowed for fly-in visitors. We took the bus into Thailand from Malaysia and, with our fifteen days nearly up, were forced to renew our visa by crossing a narrow straight of water into Burma. The visa renewal process, complete with colourful longtail boats, secret island immigration shacks, and masses of Burmese and Thai migrants, was more adventure than hassle, and rivaled any paid one-day tour.
